WURD Midday Break Interview with Tiffany Bacon
Allen Kukovich is a former Pennsylvania legislator. He spent nearly three decades in the Pennsylvania House and Senate. During his career, Allen worked on issues that directly affected families - from Pennsylvania’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and prescription assistance for older residents to protections for domestic violence survivors, disability independence, food assistance and efforts to help laid-off steelworkers remain in their homes. Currently, he has a new book out called, The Work Is Never Done , which recently debuted at No. 1 in Amazon’s U.S. Local Government category. Drawing on three decades in the Pennsylvania House and Senate, Kukovich takes readers behind the passage of CHIP and other landmark legislation, revealing how ideas become laws through negotiation, compromise, and perseverance. Allen joins the show to further discuss his book, and to talk about what happens behind the scenes when lawmakers try to get something done.
